Give every new Kit subscriber a wallet pass

Let every new subscriber to your newsletter pick up a live Apple Wallet or Google Wallet coupon or membership pass — a creator perk that lives on their phone, not buried in an inbox.

What you can do

A few ways teams put Kit and Passmint to work together.

Trigger on a tag your paid tier applies, and point Create Pass at a membership template. Each paid subscriber gets a supporter card showing their tier — a tangible perk that distinguishes them from free readers.
When a subscriber's tier changes (a tag added or a custom field updated), add a Find Pass step (by holder email), then Update Pass. The new tier is pushed straight to the card already in their wallet — no re-issue.

Set it up

One Zap links the two — live in a few minutes, no code involved.

  • A Passmint account and an API key (pmk_live… or pmk_test…), from Developers → API Keys.
  • A Passmint template for the pass you're issuing — a coupon or membership card. Note its field names (e.g. discount_code, tier): they must match the Kit fields you map.
  • A Zapier account (the free plan is enough to build and test this).
  • A Kit (formerly ConvertKit) account with the form, sequence, or tag you want to issue from.

In Zapier, add Passmint as a connected app and paste your API key when prompted. Zapier verifies it against your account immediately. Use a pmk_test… key while you set things up.

Create a Zap with Kit as the trigger app and choose the event that fits — a new subscriber, a subscriber added to a sequence, or a tag added. Send a test so Zapier reads a sample subscriber and learns the custom-field names.

TODO(verify): Confirm the exact Kit trigger label (the app may still appear as ConvertKit in some Zapier listings) and that it returns the subscriber's email, first name, and any custom fields you plan to map.

Add an action step, choose Passmint, and select Create Pass. Pick the template from the dropdown — Zapier loads your templates automatically. Then map Holder Email and Holder Name from the subscriber's email and first name.

In Field Values, map the Kit fields you want on the pass to template fields — a discount custom field to discount_code, a membership level to tier, and so on. Each key on the left must exactly match a field name in your Passmint template. Send a test, open the resulting pass on a phone, then switch to a pmk_live… key and turn the Zap on.

TODO(verify): On a real template, confirm the Field Values keys exist as field names there. Confirm the exact names of the Kit custom fields you mapped against a test subscriber.

Questions

The details teams check before switching the Zap on.

It depends on the trigger you pick. Use the new-subscriber trigger for every signup, or a 'subscriber added to a sequence/tag' trigger to issue only for a specific form, course, or tier. Add a Zapier filter if you need to narrow it further.
Search for Kit in Zapier's app list; depending on when you set this up it may still be listed under ConvertKit. Either way it's the same account and the same triggers — connect it and choose the subscriber trigger.
Yes — store a per-subscriber code in a Kit custom field and map that field to your template's code field in Field Values. Each new pass then carries that subscriber's own code rather than a shared one.
Zapier is perfect for getting this live today. When a launch sends passes to your whole list at once, or you want codes and tiers driven straight from your own store, call the Passmint API directly — POST /v1/passes, or the @passmint/node SDK. Same passes, same live updates, full control.
