Issue your first pass from the dashboard
Updated June 29, 2026
The quickest way to learn Passmint is to make a real pass and add it to your own phone. You'll do this in test mode, so it costs nothing and counts against no limits.
Open the designer and pick one of the eight starters, such as Event Ticket, Gym Membership, or Coffee Loyalty. Choosing a starter clones it into your account as a fresh, editable template, so nothing you change affects the original.
Adjust the colors, swap in your logo, and edit the field labels so they match what you want to show. You can change everything later, so don't overthink it for a first run.
From the template, choose Issue a pass. Pick the platform (Apple, Google, or both), add a holder name and email if you have them, and fill in the field values for this particular pass.
Passmint gives the new pass its own link. Open it on your phone, or scan the QR code shown on screen, then tap Add to Apple Wallet or Add to Google Wallet.
Back in the dashboard, edit a field value on the pass and save. Within a few seconds the card on your phone updates on its own. That over-the-air update is the part people find most useful.
Passes issued in test mode carry a [TEST] watermark on the organization name so they can't be mistaken for the real thing. Switch to live mode when you're ready to issue passes that count. See test mode vs live mode.
What to do next
- Add more fields, images, or a barcode in the pass designer.
- Decide which pass type fits what you're building.
- When you're ready for real passes, set up your Apple certificate or Google issuer.
