Apple Wallet & Google Wallet, one API.

For pass holders

Show your pass to be scanned

Updated June 29, 2026

When you reach the door, till, or gate, you'll show your pass so its barcode can be scanned. Here's how to bring it up quickly on each phone.

On iPhone

  • Open the Wallet app and tap your pass, or
  • if the pass supports it, it may appear on your lock screen when you're near the venue. Tap it to open.

Hold the barcode up to the scanner. Your iPhone brightens the screen automatically to help the scan.

On Android

Open the Google Wallet app and tap your pass to show its barcode. Hold it up to the scanner.

On a watch

If your pass is on a paired Apple Watch, open the Wallet app on the watch and turn your wrist toward the scanner.

If the barcode is slow to scan, turn your screen brightness up and hold the phone flat and steady. A bright, still screen reads fastest.

Tap to use, where supported

Some passes can be tapped against a reader rather than scanned, in the same way as a contactless card. If your pass works this way, the venue will tell you, and you simply hold the phone near the reader.

If the barcode won't scan

A barcode that won't scan is sometimes a sign the pass has already been used or has expired. If you believe it should still be valid, contact the business that issued it.
