My pass isn't updating
Updated June 29, 2026
Passes update over the air, so a change should reach the phone on its own within seconds. When it doesn't, the cause is usually timing or installation. This covers both sides: what to check if you hold the pass, and what to check if you issued it.
If you hold the pass
- Wait a moment and check your connection. Updates arrive over the network. A phone that's offline gets the change the next time it reconnects.
- Open the pass. Opening it in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet prompts a refresh.
- Confirm it's really installed. A pass you only previewed but never added won't receive updates. Re-add it from the original link if needed.
- Low power mode can delay background updates. Charge the phone or turn it off and check again.
If you issued the pass
- Confirm the change saved. Make sure the update actually went through on your side and you're looking at the right pass.
- The holder may not be registered. A pass only receives pushes once it's been properly added to a wallet. If it was never fully installed, there's nothing to push to.
- Apple updates depend on your certificate. If your Apple signing certificate has expired, updates stop going out until you renew it.
- Check your delivery metrics. A low update delivery rate right after a change often just means phones are offline and will catch up. See update delivery rate.
