Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel
Updated June 29, 2026
You can change plans whenever your needs change. Here's what happens in each direction so there are no surprises.
Upgrading
Upgrading takes effect right away. You get the higher active-pass limit, more templates and team seats, and any features the new plan unlocks, such as your own Apple certificate on Pro and above. Upgrade before a big push so more of your passes fall inside the included allowance.
Downgrading
Downgrading lowers your limits and removes higher-plan features. Before you move down, check that you'll fit within the new plan:
- Active passes — if you're above the lower plan's included limit, you'll be into overage on the smaller plan, or capped if you move to Free.
- Team seats — if you have more members than the lower plan allows, you'll need to remove some first. See invite and manage team members.
- Your own certificate — using your own Apple certificate is a Pro-and-above feature. If you drop below Pro, live Apple passes fall back to Passmint's certificate.
Your passes and templates aren't deleted when you downgrade. What changes is the limits and features available going forward. Check team seats and your certificate setup before moving down.
Cancelling
Cancelling stops your subscription. Passes already in people's wallets keep working as cards, but issuing and updating live passes is affected by the plan you're left on. If you're stepping away temporarily, downgrading to Free is often better than cancelling outright, so your account and templates stay ready for when you return.
How to make the change
Plan changes are made from Settings → Billing. See manage your subscription and invoices for getting into the portal.
